Our Mission

Grow Our Vote is a targeted and focused multi-cycle effort that began in late 2021 with a goal of countering Republican gerrymandering efforts in a few key districts.

2020 gerrymandering and strong candidate performance in the 2022 midterms has created some unique opportunities for Democrats with districts that have untapped and underfunded potential.

These districts have not historically seen voter registration efforts but contain enough potential new democratic votes to overcome a close election.  In the 2022 midterms, TEN congressional seats were decided by less than 2,650 votes. SIX of those were won by the Republicans and it cost us the majority in the House of Representatives. In 2022, ZERO targeted voter registration work was done in these districts.

A few thousand newly registered votes in a few districts could determine the future of President Biden’s agenda.

New maps from the redistricting process have mostly benefitted the Republicans.

And their plan doesn’t stop there – Republicans have introduced nearly 500 bills with dangerous voter suppression provisions in 49 states just since President Biden took office in January 2021.

We are taking a sophisticated approach to find opportunities in select congressional districts to move the needle with partisan voter registration programs. A few thousand newly registered votes in a few districts could determine the future of President Biden’s agenda.

Our Plan

Our organization is set up to build Democratic margins in hyper-targeted battleground congressional districts. As such, we are more aggressive in our messaging and screening questions, ensuring  we only engage and register Democrats.

We perform a thorough analysis of the existing state progressive voter registration infrastructure in these battleground districts and are only building programs where voter registration gaps exist. We run follow-up programming to our newly registered voters to ensure that they are continually engaged in upcoming elections and issues.

We are pioneering sophisticated data targeting and will only build programs in districts that meet the following criteria:

  • Where a narrow margin will determine the winner
  • Where there is a gap in existing state progressive voter registration infrastructure.
  • Where the UNregistered voters are concentrated geographically, allowing us to have brick and mortar offices that will increase efficiencies in program scale and execution.
  • The UNregistered voter population in each district has been modeled heavily democratic and independent and has significant populations of people of color.
